Consortium.Uk.Net is part of Consortium Hosting but focuses on helping charities and on-line communities.

The Consortium was formed almost by accident in 1997. A group of people who thought the World Wide Web was something special started looking for ways to help people who wanted to use it. We had technical know how. They had the big ideas. With our support, some amazing things were created. We helped people by hosting web sites, providing message forums and writing web applications. Most of this was for the massive online gaming community. We wrote systems to allow people with no technical knowlegde run online leagues and communities.

Consortium Hosting is now a company but we have not forgoten our roots or our philosophy that the web is for everyone and that technical barriers should not prevent people from doing what they want to do. We still offer free message forums and very cheap web hosting. We will always support, as best we can, any online initiative we think is a "good idea".
